Terry and Korvo
Solar Opposites without context is just about a gay couple from outer space with two children who move to earth. With context though, Hilarity Ensues. Technically, the shlorpians (including the main cast of the show) are Plant Aliens with No Biological Sex. However, the shlorpians can choose the gender they want to be identified as, and Terry and Korvo both have male voice actors, leading to a lot of aesthetic homoeroticism.- Korvo and Terry take the places of the sitcom husband and wife having loads in common with other animated sitcom couples. They own a house, have a couple of kids living there, and even argue Like an Old Married Couple. None of them even bother to disguise themselves as human beings. Even more blatant is that Korvo and Terry share a bed.
- In several episodes, Korvo acts like a nagging housewife to Terry, nagging him over certain things like giving Pupa candy and putting jeans in the freezer.
- “The Quantum Ring” has Terry call Korvo “My Korvy” when he thought that Korvo was killed at a magic accident. He even cries at Korvo’s “funeral”.
- The pet name of “Korvy” was also used by the grown-up red goobler in “The Rad Awesome Terrific Ray” in an affectionate way towards Korvo and they were both in a short lived gay relationship in that episode. This draws a lot of parallels with how Terry uses the word “Korvy” in many ways.
- “The Lavatic Reactor” has several of these moments between Korvo and Terry Keep in mind that most of these situations occurred while Korvo was under the effects of the dumb ray.
- During the montage where Terry starts a bunch of one night stands with multiple college students (Men included), it is revealed that Terry is doing these things in the bed he and Korvo share and while Korvo is sleeping in it. Korvo says that he is grateful he and Terry got the mattress with enhanced coils or else he would have been bouncing all around.
- At one point Korvo hops on Terry and thrusts on him while saying that he is “boning an alien”.
- Terry on the other hand attempts to declare his love for Korvo.
- It then culminates with Korvo apparently attempting to kiss Terry on the mouth with Terry backing away and Korvo admits that he thought that Terry was giving him signals.
- During “The P.A.T.R.I.C.I.A Device”, Terry begs Korvo to let him install a man cave in their house after they are both introduced to one by their neighbor. When Korvo agrees to Terry’s request, Terry says that Korvo should have held out on agreeing as he was going to offer to suck something of Korvo’s before being interrupted. This implies that Terry was planning to bribe Korvo with oral sex.
- “The Earth Eraser”:
- Korvo and Terry apologize to each other for their behavior at dinner parties and they decide to seal their reconciliation by actually kissing each other on the mouth while they are both naked in a grocery store.
- Then there is Korvo’s motivation for having dinner parties outlawed in the episode. It turns out that Korvo had them banned because he wanted to spend time with Terry and felt neglected.
- “The Emergency Urbanizer” has Terry and Korvo dress in attire that looks like what couples would wear the morning after they have sex. Terry is wearing nothing but a blue and red spider t- shirt and undies while Korvo is dressed in a frilly pink nightgown. They even wear these articles of clothing when they go on vacation together at the end of the episode.
- During “The Rad Awesome Terrific Ray” Korvo has sex with Red Chris during a bachelor party. When Terry finds out about this, he gets angry at Korvo.
- Terry gets upset over Korvo’s affair with Red Chris when he and Korvo go to a makeshift museum called the Hall of Betrayals in “ The Cubic Lattice Crystallizer”. In that museum we see an animatronic recreation of the sex scene between Korvo and Red Chris and when the machine is turned on, the animatronic Korvo starts saying sexually explicit stuff straight out of a porn video that proclaims that he is coming harder than when he does with Terry.
- Speaking of “The Cubic Lattice Crystallizer”, that episode is where the subtext is at its most blatant. That episode strongly implies that Korvo and Terry are having sex together due to the aforementioned animatronic scene and Terry proclaiming that he brings handcuffs along in case things got kinky. Terry even jumps into Korvo’s arms and caresses his face when Korvo announces that the family is going on vacation
- The shirt Terry wears on “The Super Gooblers” is quite suggestive as it has the words “Butte Stuff” on it and in the middle of the shirt is a blue butt on it. The word butt stuff is an euphemism for gay sex and the fact that the butt is colored in the same blue hue as Korvo’s skin, it gives off many suggestions.
