It wouldn't be a
Sherlock Holmes adaptation without some form of rapport between our lead characters.
- Sherlock. The staircase scene. Getting up close and personal with Wato and smelling her. And whispering the explanation.
- Sherlock's brother volunteering to let Wato stay with Sherlock while she awkwardly stands there, comes off to many as him shipping them.
- One episode has Wato fixing Sherlock some breakfast and then proceeding to pout when Sherlock doesn't appreciate it.
- One episode has Sherlock force Wato onto the couch and get on top of her, leading to their landlord finding them like this with Wato quickly separating from Sherlock in a sort of Not What It Looks Like situation.
- Sherlock stealing Wato's food while they eat at a restaurant comes off like they are on a date out of context.
- In one episode, Wato mentions that she would like to get married one day while alone with and side eying Sherlock. When Sherlock scoffs at the idea, Wato gets angry at her, which makes it look like she was hoping for Sherlock to want to marry her some day out of context.
- In one episode, the criminals kidnap Wato in order to force Sherlock to comply and we later see Sherlock worriedly lying next to a recovering Wato.
- In one episode, when Wato has come home late due to being on a date, Sherlock waits up all night and grills her in what comes off as a jealous girlfriend. Something even Sherlock's actress commented on in an interview.
- Sherlock's dislike of Moriya comes off as a jealous rival, especially when they play a game as a group and Sherlock goes out of her way to humiliate him.
- When Irikawa visits Sherlock's home after framing her, she repeatedly invades Sherlock's personal space.
- Sherlock saying that she'd rather have Wato shoot her than anyone else. This is what makes Irikawa's control over Wato crack.
- Speaking of which, Sherlock is stocking Wato's gun when she says this.
- Wato takes Sherlock's death harder than anyone else and the last thing we see is Wato holding Sherlock's coat and looking at the sunset.
