  • Anna forgiving Marnie and telling her that she loves her, which finally lets Marnie's spirit have peace.

  • Anna finally making her first friend: Sayaka. And all because of Marnie.
    • At the end, they promise to write each other and next summer, Anna promises she will definitely come back.
    • In the book, Anna is befriended by an entire group of siblings whose family moved into Marnie's old home. They lure her in close to them as they play and reveal good-naturedly that they knew she was watching them for days and wanted to meet with her. From then on, she's instantly included in all their games and is accepted by their entire family. It's one of the few times Anna has anyone understand her so well.
  • It's a quick moment, but Yoriko gives a warm smile to Anna after she refers to her as "mom" instead of "auntie" when introducing her to Hisako.
  • Marnie teaching Anna how to dance.
  • Anna comforting Marnie when the latter has a breakdown over being in the silo.
  • Anna, despite seeing the real signs that Marnie could be a ghost or a figment of her imagination, decides that she doesn't care who Marnie is and wants to really help her.
  • When Anna is on her way back to Sapporo, Sayaka and Toichi bid her one last farewell. The spirit of the young Marnie also waves goodbye to Anna, her granddaughter.
