Heartwarming / Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

  • Talking to Master Helmsman Ravor, you can learn about some of his background as a Void-born and, if the player has the Navy Captain background, can respond that "the best helmsmen come from the voidborn. I am glad to have you at the helm of my ship." Ravor is at first skeptical, but he slowly brings out The Unsmile (as he's genuinely unused to actually smiling) before thanking you and vowing not to let you down.
  • When learning about what actually led Sister Argenta to the Rogue Trader's ship, she can compliment the RT for their patience and understanding with those left orphaned by the events of the prologue.
Argenta: A leader who's willing to honour those that laid down their lives for them, and take care of their children, is a leader who inspires trust. And the way you acted in that moment... Do you remember? There was a young man whose grief and confusion had driven him to insolence. You found the words that could comfort him. You didn't punish him, didn't scare him with a show of austerity. You even admitted you are not all-powerful! It surprised me. I even saw it as weakness at first. But after giving it some thought, I saw the wisdom in it. The way you openly addressed the thoughtless boy does you credit, Rogue Trader.
  • When on Janus, Cassia can request that the Rogue Trader come with her down to the shoreline, as it's a view she hadn't been able to see since her childhood. The RT can pick her a flower, encourage her to wade into the ocean and enjoy the feel of sea water, and simply move closer to her in contented silence before moving on.
  • The Courtly Love arc with Cassia has quite a few of these moments, but none moreso than when Cassia tries to Break His Heart to Save Him by ending the relationship, revealing a new mutation in the process. In response, the Rogue Trader can elaborate on the Cassia he sees, laying on compliment after compliment of her mind, beauty, and personality that he fell in love with. The final ending to Cassia's sufficiently courtly romance story makes it clear that even as her mutations progress and her physical humanity fades, the Rogue Trader and Cassia never stopped finding love and comfort with one another.
  • If you talk to Idira and Vox Master Vigdis about their relationship and convince them to reach out to each other, the ending will say that they mended their friendship and spent many a day drinking amasec over the card table.
  • In Idira's (relatively) happy ending, Jae takes her on a bucket list trip shortly before her death
Shortly before her death, Idira vanished from her post. Jae disappeared with her. When Jae returned many cycles later, she declared that Idira's last days had been full of joy and adventure, and that her greatest pleasure had been watching the void whales play.
  • Inspired by an Iconoclast Rogue Trader, the High Factotum Janis Danrok spends his retirement taking care of the orphans of all those who died serving on the ship.
