Heartwarming / Vox and King Beau

Go To

  • Beau and Vox in the last two paragraphs in "The Good, the Bad, and the Strange". The entire story up until then has been filled with constant conflict between them and constant stress for Vox as tries to figure out what's wrong with her; she hasn't been able to catch a break the entire story, with bad things just piling up on her endlessly as she freaks out thinking that Beau wants to kill her. This chapter is blissfully peaceful, ending with Beau and Vox just quietly laying in bed together, holding hands, as Vox reassures him that she's going to be okay. Beau doesn't say anything, just lays there and looks at her and holds her hand until she falls asleep.
  • The entire story, neither Vox nor the audience has had any idea why Beau is coming back. For a long while, it seems like he's just harassing her for the hell of it; and even after The Reveal, it's not clear if Beau was warning her because he cares about her or because he doesn't want to lose someone he sees as "his". Then in the "Vox's Follow-Up" section, it's outright stated that Beau loves Vox.
  • All of the "Why the Stars Shine". Child!Vox has the flu and is completely miserable; and after the flu leads to her sleeping all day and then being stuck awake all night, Beau stays by her side and tells her stories. Him being patient and caring with her when she's sick is sweet enough, but the end of it drives it home: after telling her a story about the stars guiding him home after he goes among them wanting to "see nothing ever again", Vox asks "so why do the stars shine?". Beau replies "To let you know that they love you, too, Little Jeep".
