- When Grace is trying to play off her bully troubles as "no big deal," her dad plays on her empathy by asking if she'd be saying that if it were happening to Pretty Tall or Sporty Shorty. Understanding now how he feels, she silently beckons for him to proceed and report the problem.
- When Grace is wondering if she's crazy for only being able to dance when no one is watching, Mr. Koslovsky plays it off by telling her "All artists are crazy. I don't know why I teach them."
- Throughout the film, Miss Theodora is constantly encouraging Grace to pursue her passion for dancing and telling her she's more talented than she realizes.
