Heartwarming / Tropic Thunder

• When Rick turns up with the TiVo. No, really. "If my friend wants a TiVo, he gets a TiVo!" What he does with it afterwards counts as a Moment of Awesome.
  • And Rick's last scene before that. He's just been offered a choice: receive a G-5 airplane and a massive sum of money so that Tugg can die and Les can cash in on an insurance claim, or save his friend. He saves his friend.
    • Using the G-5 airplane and massive sum of money.
• "I know who you are... you're my friend."
• Read between the lines and it becomes clear that Tugg's reason for playing Simple Jack or at least being willing to accept the role, when Rick offered it him, was because Rick himself has a mentally handicapped son. The photo showing them being friends even was from the set of Simple Jack.
• Kevin Sandusky gave a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech to Kirk Lazarus after he had a breakdown telling him that he's the reason that Kevin went into acting in the first place.
  • Alpa Chino follows up on this by telling Tugg that he saw the first Scorcher movie 24 times when he was younger and the success of that movie alone proves he's not a failure.
• Alpa's real reason for signing up for the movie:
  And why am I in this movie? Maybe it's because I just knew I had to represent, because they had one good part in here for a black man and they gave it to Crocodile Dundee!
• When Tugg corrected Alpa Chino when he messed up his name. Kevin just gazed at him amazed that someone had remembered his name.
• Tugg being presented with a makeshift Oscar after his forced performance of Simple Jack...
  • Which turns into a Crowning Moment of Funny when his "son" that gave it to him starts stabbing him in the back at the end of the action sequence.
• Kirk's relationship with Tugg. He was the one that presented Tugg with the Oscar for a reason.
• The Oscars scene had a few all on its own:
  • Kirk's little "Yes!" when he opens the envelope and sees that Tugg won.
  • Alpa Chino attending the Oscars with Lance.
  • Kevin Sandusky attends with Jennifer Love Hewitt as his date, giving her a cute peck on the cheek.
  • Jeff Portnoy almost glomping Tugg as he heads to the stage to receive his Oscar.
