Heartwarming / The Year of Luigi

• The concept itself is ultimately one giant Heartwarming Moment. Luigi, a character who never got as much recognition as his more popular brother (he originally started out life as just an identical Palette Swap of Mario) and is known (or not, sometimes) for being both a Cowardly Lion and a Butt-Monkey, is now getting an entire year dedicated to him. It goes to show that while Mario may get the spotlight most of the time, Nintendo still hasn't forgotten about the man in green.
• Luigi's Nightmare, an entry in the Luigipalooza collab. It starts off as a Nightmare Fuel-inducing sequence of Luigi being painfully reminded that it's his brother who's the number one star and that he's simply Player 2. Fortunately, it turns out to be All Just a Dream as Luigi wakes up with a concerned Mario at his bedside, who reveals that Luigi's getting his own year dedicated to him, resulting in a tearjerking hug between the two.
  Luigi: MARIO! *hugs Mario*
  Mario: Hey, it's okay. Don't-a cry.
• It's continuing into 2014. The party never stops.
• Dr. Luigi, a Luigi-centered Dr. Mario game.
• Some stages in NES Remix have Luigi save Mario from Donkey Kong, and other stages revolve around protecting him.
