Heartwarming / The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982)

Go To

  • Percy, reasonably but mistakenlynote  thinking that his wife Marguerite has denounced the Marquis de St. Cyr and caused him and his family to be executed, has been cold and distant toward her ever since the day of their marriage. He encounters her while disguised in the persona of the Scarlet Pimpernel (telling her not to turn around to look at him), and through their conversation, he comes to realize how much he has misjudged her, as well as the fact that she is being blackmailed with her brother Armand's life. After she departs and he resolves to set sail for France immediately to rescue Armand, his final line to Sir Andrew speaks volumes.
Sir Andrew Ffoulkes: What shall I tell Marguerite?
Sir Percy Blakeney: (pauses, then smiles) Tell her I love her... more than ever!
