Even in the unsettling, alien world of the Kivouack, The August Few has its cute, endearing bits, showing that it's not always bad there.
From the book:
- Everything about Bazzil and Teazzer full stop. Sam wastes no time in showing that these two legitimately love each other, and that they absolutely cannot live without the other. Even if they're against the law, it's hard to not feel like you want the two of them to be happy. Their animation based on book says it all.
- Dalton's You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech to Celia in Chapter 17 - Part 4, especially in its animated form. It really shows he cares about her.
From promotional material:
- For longtime fans of Satellite City, it's great to finally see certain characters how they were meant to be, or better off than they were when the fans first saw them.
- Winifred, originally portrayed as a traumatized shell of her former self? We finally get to see what that former self was truly like, and it's awesome, and here to stay.
- Hyzen, formerly known as Hyzenthlay, is no longer the Butt-Monkey of the series, and has been retconned as a hybrid, and while she's merely a Fowler in the book, we can tell she's stronger than she lets on.
- Celia was originally The Lost Lenore to Lucy, so seeing her alive and well is gratifying to people who've always wondered about her. Plus, the Little Shop of Horrors tribute starts with an adorable interaction between the two!
- Remember Quinn, the lowly messenger who was a Kivva born on Earth? He's now the Voice of Records, essentially Sombra's right-hand man, and a highly-ranked highly-intelligent figure in Kivvic society. Talk about a glow-up!
- It's also heartwarming when you consider Sam himself, who spent nearly a decade building his world as a lesser-known YouTube animator, all out of his passion for telling and creating a compelling story. Now that story is in tangible form, and he's finally able to give us a piece of his passion.
