Dr. Carlock's entire relationship with Temple is really sweet. From the day he met her, right up until he passed away, he never once gave up on her.
After the debacle with the hug box, Temple's first roommate doesn't want to live with her anymore, and she gets assigned another roommate instead. She expects more of the same, but she finds that her new roommate, a blind woman, understands her better than she might have expected, and they become friends. In one scene, Temple helps her friend "watch" a movie by describing the visuals to her.
