Heartwarming / Sea of Stars

  • It's a small thing, but during B'st's sidequest in Brisk for the Tournament Arc, you can see Yolande and Seraï disguised as Captain Klee'shaë cheering their hearts out in the stands. It's especially heartwarming coming from Seraï, who's generally a very serious individual.
  • Seraï's relationship with her pirate crew is a joy to behold. Though she's ostensibly using them to get the Vespertine so she'll have a means of returning to her world through the Sea of Stars, it's clear she honestly cares about each and every one of them, and they're each devoted to her in turn. The crew find a family in each other, and all happily welcome Hortence as their navigator once they finally grab the Vespertine. The entire crew they manage to pick up following the fall of Brisk all seem just as devoted to Captain Klee'shaë as Yolande, Keenathan, and Jacko are.
  • Hortence never passed on because she was too devoted to pursuing her passion for music to give in to Stormcaller. When the Vespertine is freed from the Sea of Nightmare, Hortence initially joins Captain Klee'shaë's crew out of gratitude... until the pirates inform her they were aware of her interest in music. The pirates, each being talented musicians in their own right, happily call for Hortence to join their Bardcore band, and she readily accepts, having finally managed to devote herself to her passion.
  • As a lovely Call-Back, near the start of the game you can meet two Molekin who understand Malkomud better than anyone else in their village. When the crisis with Malkomud resolves, they talk about showing off their sand fort to him. Fast forward to the very end of the game, and during the scene in the Golden Pelican, it turns out they actually did show Malkomud their sand fort and then gave it to him, which he happily accepted.
  • Pretty much everything out of Garl's mouth. He's the friendliest man you could ever meet. He never swears, he's unfailingly polite to all but the most heinous people, and he never has jealousy issues about helping and being friends with people who could very well ascend to godhood. He doesn't even hold Valere or Zale accountable for losing an eye - he spends a literal decade training to help them when they begin their quest to fight Dwellers because he loves his friends so much. It's especially touching after the True Final Boss, where Valere has trouble communicating that, unfortunately, her duties as a god have to come before her friendship with him, only for Garl to be absolutely fine with Luana and Solen's duties.
Valere: "We'll see you soon Garl, first we-"
Garl: "I know, I know! You do your Luana and Solen stuff whenever you have to, but you'll always be Valere and Zale to me!"
Zale: "Wouldn't want it any other way."
Garl: "Seriously, we did something good here— you guys are the best!
  • As a retroactive bit of heartwarming, the ending establishes that the Crypt would eventually be the resting place of Luana and Solen - Valere and Zale - once people forgot about them by the time of The Messenger (2018). Though this could be seen as an ignominious end for the heroes, it bears remembering that, with the power and time they did have, the duo went on to save countless worlds with their abilities, if the final cutscenes of this game are to believed. Even when they were on their last dregs, when the world asked of them to do one last selfless act and ensure the future of the people on Mesa Island, they answered the call. And until the time of the great flood - which, according to Yomara, would be a long, long time off from the time period of Sea of Stars - their home world lived life to its fullest.
