  • In the Pilot, when Leo gives Kara her band and says that he believes there's more to her than meets the eye, you can see her lips twitch into the barest hint of a smile, as if she's genuinely touched by the sentiment, in spite of her attitude.
  • Leo's reassurance to Jordi to alleviate the latter's nervousness at his impending amputation surgery:
"Your body isn't you; your soul is you, and they can never cut into your soul."
  • Kara getting Nurse Jackson to order pizza for Charlie, especially since she went to the effort of putting a message in tape on her bedroom window, ensuring that Jackson would see it on her bus ride.
  • Emma supporting and encouraging Kara in dealing with her parents, even after admitting that she doesn't like Kara.
    Kara: What do you care?
Emma: I don't care. But I'm trying. It's called empathy.
  • Jordi secretly lets his mom win at poker, implying that he still wants his mother in his life. Only Emma knows what he really did.
  • At Homecoming, Leo cheers Kara up by giving her a "The Reason You Suck" Speech, which prompts her to smile and kiss him. (This may not sound that heartwarming, but It Makes Sense in Context.)
  • Kara gives Dash a genuine compliment about his art, calling it "shockingly good."
  • The whole RBS showing up to support Kara as she's getting ready to go into surgery to get a pacemaker put in her. Emma even gives her an old stress ball she had in case she was nervous. Of course, it's immediately undercut by Kara pushing them away and treating them like a bunch of total strangers, but it was sweet while it lasted.
  • The group rallying to get Nurse Jackson by writing a letter. Special points to Kara being the one to write it.
  • Kara calling out Hunter for being a dick about Dash's condition and her speech defending the RBS:
Kara: You know, you're right. This is all a distraction. And you don't need to be one of us, but when you fall, we're gonna be there anyways. Maybe we do all die alone, but that doesn't mean we need to live alone.
  • The whole Red-Band Society's reaction to learning that Charlie's eyes are open. Even Kara looks like a giddy little kid.
  • The end of the finale: Charlie talks for the first time, not counting those situations in the place between.
