The Princess sends out her pet rodent to help the main character at some point via opening a door that the Prince himself cannot reach. In the end of the game, when the hero and the princess are happily reunited and share a hug... said rodent comes into the scene and watches them happily.
The Sega CD version has a couple of examples:
In the opening cinematic, the Princess confesses to the Prince that she's scared of what Jaffar's been doing in her father's absence. He reassures her that everything will be fine once her father returns. She bashfully thanks him for his support and tells him she'd like to introduce him to her father. They then laugh together at his joke that her father might banish him alongside Jaffar rather than let a commoner court his daughter.
After Jaffar has been defeated, the Princess approaches the Prince, eyes sparkling with Tears of Joy before rushing to embrace him. The following cinematic shows the Prince kneeling in front of the grateful Sultan and then being celebrated by the people with the Princess by his side as an awesome closing theme plays out.
The opening scene of the SNES version shows the Prince and the Princess chatting happily in the garden before the guards forcefully take him away. The Rescue Hug of the ending scene also has a Twirl of Love and a Smooch of Victory thrown in before we're shown pictures of the Prince being thanked by the Sultan, the people celebrating their Princess and new Prince, and the happy couple Watching the Sunset from the palace. The ending credits also show them riding an elephant, with the Princess' mouse bobbling on the elephant's head.
