- In Black Plague, Amabel promising to hug Phillip if he manages to rescue her.
- Actually, Amabel may just be one of the most important and biggest reassurances in the entire series. She's perhaps the only truly friendly, benevolent person Phillip comes into contact with while he's down there.
- Clarence's behavior towards Phillip is rather confusing, often changing from spiteful bouts of verbal abuse at him to acting genuinely concerned for his safety. It may just be sarcasm, but seeing Clarence every so often break his vicious facade is somewhat unusually heartwarming. Then again, it makes sense, for if Phillip dies, then he does too. So it might not be as genuine as one might think.
