- Mitch and Jonas's relationship whilst it may be complicated the two have demonstrable positive effects on each other. Mitch helps Jonas come out of his shell, gives him a new friend group, protects him from bullies and allows him the opportunity to let loose and be emotionally honest. Jonas helps Mitch better express and channel his emotions.
- Mitch opening up about his family issues to Jonas, after they skip school. Including his Stepdad and his dead brother.
- Dean finds out that Jonas and Mitch have been hanging out, and hits Jonas across the face. Jonas is confused by this, heads to Mitch's house misplacing the blame onto Mitch, and trying to entice Mitch into striking him so that he can feel like Dean's right. Mitch immediately figures out what's happening and tries to calm Jonas down.
- Mitch comforting Jonas when it looks like Dean will send him away to his grandparents. Jonas's fear of abandonment and lack of confidence kick in and have him question why Mitch cares about him. Mitch reassures him that he's amazing, and that Jonas deserves love and that he is the reason Mitch works towards being a better person.
- Mitch trying to help Jonas see that Dean is bastard. He even tries to comfort Jonas upon learning that Dean's a pedophile helping Jonas see that it's not his fault.
- Mitch learns who really killed Principal Newman's rabbit and tried to get him expelled, and he doesn't take vengeance, he just hooks the guilty party to the flagpole by their underwear.
- Jonas and Sidney's relationship. They've got the standard sibling teasing down to a science, but Sidney is very supportive. She's supportive of Jonas coming out to her, especially considering he's into Mitch, and she tries to comfort him about Dean being arrested for his crimes, and the foster kids being taken away.
- Mitch's gang are very wholesome, they'll mock and tease each other but they genuinely have each other's backs. Most of Mitch's gang are accepting of his sexuality, except for Cliff later on in the story when Jonas is forbidden from seeing Mitch, Cliff comes to sympathize with their dilemma. They have his back when they learn about his powers and try to help him process the breakup.
- A minor detail but Javier always calls Jonas 'little bro' even before they started hanging out. Even after the breakup, Javi still calls Jonas by the nickname.
- Jonas smashing the shed and revealing Dean's child pornography. While it was done for somewhat selfish reasons, it must have been cathartic for the victims.
- Henrietta is a very supportive mother towards Mitch. She handles his coming out with warmth and maturity.
She even supports Jonas at his high-school graduation. - Jonas and Mitch both rush to save each other. Mitch teams up with Sidney to save Jonas from the government agents. Mitch is able to save Jonas and that helps Jonas unlock his Super Mode.
