- Tom's entire courtship of Kate is Sweet Dreams Fuel, at least before The Reveal turns it into a Tear Jerker of the highest order.
- Sneaking into an ice skating rink after closing so she can prep for an audition, before being caught and running off, laughing together. So cute.
- Tom holding her in his arms while she finally talks about her transplant. Especially when she shows him her surgery scar and he cautiously touches it, and she lets him, before opening up about how traumatic the whole ordeal was. For Kate, this is a huge display of trust.
- This:Kate: Why me?
Tom: Because it was always going to be you.
- Stern and icy Santa falling in mutual Love at First Sight with a customer.
- Kate invites the customer back into the shop so he can ask her out. Later, she helps Santa prepare for her first date with him and even does her makeup for her.
- A subtle one. In the aforementioned scene, Santa comments that she doesn't use her real name when dealing with customers because no one can pronounce it. Later, Boy bursts in and gives a grand, romantic speech to her... using her real name. He made the effort!
- At the end, he's her date to the concert.
- Kate making up with her family. Especially when she and her sister manage to meet in the middle, and agree that, yes, their parents are a lot to deal with — but they adore them, and they only mean the best.
- The little hints that one of the shelter workers has a crush on Kate. It's nice to have a sense that, despite the sadness, Her Heart Will Go On eventually.
- Kate's final speech at the benefit concert.We are so lucky to be alive.
- Despite Marta's fears of coming out, her parents happily have her girlfriend Alba over for Christmas dinner, and her mother tries, in her own, awkward way, to show how supportive she is of her daughter's sexual orientation.
- Kate's conversation with a Croatian couple after a man spoke a racist comment to them.
- Even before she begins to make an effort to reconcile, many people's anger with Kate (particularly her older sister Marta and Santa) seems to be Anger Born of Worry.
