Heartwarming / Kiyoshi Tamura

Go To

  • Tamura going in tears after defeating his former master Nobuhiko Takada at his retirement fight in PRIDE 23. He looks so distraught at seeing him lying at his feet that even refuses to get his hand lifted by the referee while Takada gets up as well from the knockout. Tamura then grabs the mic and gives a choking speech.
"Takada-san, thank you very much. I thank you for instructing me, and I'm sorry for the inconveniences I've caused. Honestly, I don't know what to say right now. Today is your retirement day, but I don't know what to think about this. Thank you for giving the people their dreams and hope for twenty-two years."
  • In another awesome moment, Tamura and Kenichi Yamamoto, who were bitter enemies until that point and had badmouthed each other for years, shook hands in the retirement celebration and left together like lifelong friends. There were no dry eyes in the Tokyo Dome that night.
