Heartwarming / House of the Scorpion

• Steven, Emilia, and Maria racing Matt to a doctor after he cuts his feet on broken glass during their first meeting. Even after Steven and Emilia harden toward Matt in the worst way after learning that he's El Patron's clone, it's still a decent Pet the Dog moment for them.
• Matt and Maria's exchange just before they press the button in the secret passage that might kill them.
  Matt: I love you.
  Maria: I love you too. I know that's a sin, and I'll probably go to hell for it.
  Matt: If I have a soul, I'll go with you.
• When Tam Lin tells Matt that there is no real difference between a clone and a human and that Matt isn't really inferior. For the first time in his life, Matt realizes that he's just a normal person rather than the freak everyone sees him as. Especially since it was part of their parting exchange before they left each other for good.
• Right after being verbally assaulted by the Lost Boys egged by a Keeper, Matt finds himself comforted by Chacho and Fidelito. Fire-Forged Friends indeed.
• After hearing Matt mention Celia and Tam Lin, Chacho remarks how weird it is to call your parents by their given names. Which prompts Matt to realize he may not have a traditional family, but he does have it.
