Heartwarming / Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco

• This exchange between Shadow and the pack of strays after he rescues a boy from a fire:
  Stokey: You know, you're pretty brave for a - a pet.
  Riley: Brave, huh? Listen, you really think a human would do that for you?
  Shadow: My boy Peter would.
  • The boy was initially afraid of dogs and seems to prefer cats (he has a pet kitten). But this act of kindness may have made him less afraid of them.
  • This also made Riley rethink about humans and keep an open mind.
  Riley: Well, let's head on home, gang. You know, you two are welcome to hand with us.
  Sassy: Uh, gee.... are you sure pets aren't allowed?
  Riley: I think this time we can make an exception.
  • After the dogcatchers are dealt with, Riley decided to take the pets to the Golden Gate Bridge which leads them home. Upon helping Shadow and Sassy reach out to the bridge, Riley bids farewell to both; even admitting that he finds the idea of being in company with cat like Sassy.
  Sassy: (after Riley leads them to the bridge) Well, if you're ever in the neighborhood, drop by, but do call first. Goodbye, Riley.
  Riley: So long, Sassy! You know, she's kinda fine for a feline.
  Sassy: Uh-huh! You know it! (leaves)
  Shadow: Bye, Riley. Wait up, Sassy!
  Riley: Yo, housepet. I'll keep in mind what you said about humans.
  Shadow: Riley, you are all right. (leaves)
  Riley: Right back at ya! (barks happily)
• After Chance deals with Ashcan and Pete, Sassy has this to say to Chance:
  Sassy: Chance, you saved our lives!
  Chance: Ah... a piece of cake.
  Sassy: I'm sure one day I'm gonna regret saying this.... thank you. And what took you so long?!
  Chance: You know, you worry too much. I've been trailing you even since you left Riley's.
  Shadow: I knew we could count on you, Chance!
• Upon returning back to his gang, Riley points out to a depressing Delilah that given the circumstances of how things went between her and Chance, they can never be together in the streets as Chance is pet who belongs to a family. Though Delilah concurs with that, she states that she misses him. It is later implied that Riley allowed Delilah to quit the gang so that she can be with Chance if she likes.
• Upon crossing the bridge and being several minutes away from home, Shadow and Sassy spots Chance on the road looking at San Francisco on the horizon. Sassy tries to distract Chance by mentioning dinner, but Chance is unperturbed as he ponders about his experiences with Delilah. Upon deducing what's going on with Chance's mind, Shadow and Sassy decide to give him some time.
  Sassy: It looks like one of us isn't quite ready to go. Hurry, Chance you don't wanna miss dinner!
  (Chance does nothing and remains gazing at the horizon)
  Sassy: It's amazing: I mentioned food, and he doesn't even move!
  Shadow: (realizing what's got into Chance) Poor pup.
  Chance: Well, Delilah... I guess this is really... good-bye.
  Sassy: (worried) Is he gonna be all right?
  Shadow: Yes... in time.
• Jamie reuniting with Chance.
• Chance and Delilah reuniting at the end.
  Bob: Yeah, she can stay.
