Heartwarming / Flawed

• The unconditional love and commitment Celestine's family shows her. In a story where she gets constantly targeted and suffers so much, the fact that her family spend the entire time supportive of and even actively aiding her goes a long way. Highlights include her mother ensuring her homeschool teacher would be good to her, her sister putting herself in danger to get Celestine out of the guild's hospital, and the conversation she and her mother had about the sunrise.
• Though he can be impulsive at times, Carrick spends the entire time being genuinely convinced that Celestine can save everyone. He admits to finding her brave, heroic, and inspiring, and had so much faith in her that he worked to get everyone else to follow her as well.
• Though their plot can be a big Tear Jerker, Leonard's unconditional love for Lizzie is extremely touching considering she was so convinced he hated her. He proved to be a genuine Nice Guy that just wanted her to be happy, something Celestine made clear to her once she met her.
• At one point, Celestine and Carrick have to go home on a Flawed bus. However, the driver is forced to stop and "wait for repairs" each night, in order for the Flawed to miss their curfews and be punished. The riders all justifiably get angry and demand he keep driving them, until they realize that Celestine needs to get somewhere important. Putting faith in her to help them out, they all willingly get off the bus so she can get to her destination before curfew.
• Celestine sitting with Crevan while Art was in the hospital. After everything they both went through, the small gesture is pretty significant of the fact that they're both ready to move on and care more about Art's well-being than the story's feud.
