  • Some feel that the Hero carrying Lora around once he rescues her is a nice, adorable touch by the sprite artists.
  • At the end of the game, the Hero breaks the But Thou Must! trend of his own volition, declaring his intent to create a kingdom of his own. The choice the Dragonlord offers him earlier is to rule "half the world" — but, that being a bum deal besides, as Dragon Quest II shows, the Hero ends up ruling nearly three-quarters of the world, with the kingdoms he created by his own hand. Not bad, for the original put-upon JRPG protagonist; not bad at all.
