  • The move called "Risking It All For A Friend" in Burst Limit. A defensive technique in which a character selflessly jumps in the way of an incoming energy blast to shield another character from being killed. While there are many variations that make the move humorous, it's still a nice Call-Back / Mythology Gag.
    • Gohan referring to Bardock as "Grandpa".
    Gohan: Grandpa, are you alright?
Bardock: Heh, It'll take a lot more than that.
    • Yamcha and Tien are true Bash Brothers, even going so far as to call each other "bro and dude". Big change from how they first met back in the original Dragon Ball.
    • Yamcha's words after he shields 18, he is a heck of a wingman.
    Yamcha: You should... thank... Krillin...
    • Tien's genuine concern for Trunks, and vice versa.
Tien: Trunks... get.. out of.. here.
    Trunks: Tien!
    • Raditz showing some Big Brother Instinct and shielding Goku. He even tells the latter at one point not to die.
    • While not very appreciative of Raditz, Goku does appear to have warmed up to Bardock. Even calling him "Dad" when tossing him a senzu bean.
