"We became like friends... we became like... good friends."

In General

  • Broly's friendship with Cheelai and Lemo as a whole. It truly says something that Broly doesn't get as temperamental with them as he does with others and actually makes much, much more of an effort to actually restrain himself. Even when he does lose his temper with Cheelai when she grabs Bah's ear in a dismissive manner, he forces himself to calm down. When she gently touches Bah's ear with sympathy and understanding, Broly's doesn't get hostile and calmly explains to her that the fur is special.
    • It goes just that much deeper when you think about it. Age and Power Levels aside, the one major difference between Super!Broly and Z!Broly, the one thing that literally meant the difference between Life and Death: This Broly had friends. People who truly cared for him.
  • Frieza's interactions with Goku and Vegeta. They are still clearly antagonistic towards each other, but they can, at the very least, talk without trying to beat each other up to a pulp. The events of the Universe Survival Tournament clearly left its mark on Frieza and, while they are not quite Fire-Forged Friends, they are almost in Friendly Enemy territory.

Film

  • It's nice seeing Bardock be respected by his fellow low class Saiyans, as opposed to the TV Special. Heck, this time they don't dismiss him when he expressed his concerns about Freeza turning on them.
    • It's also nice seeing how much Bardock and Gine care about each other and their kids.
    • A really nice touch is how Bardock unwraps his tail from his waist as soon as he grabs hold onto Gine. He feels so comfortable and happy around her that he no longer feels a need to protect his one weakness when he's with her.
  • Once Paragus explains why he's going after his son. Beets, the Saiyan with him seems to feel genuinely sympathetic for him and Broly. Shame Paragus murders the poor man shortly after they crash land on planet Vampa.
  • A small one, but when Nappa and two other adult Saiyans hear about the destruction of their homeworld, they immediately rush over to the young Vegeta and Raditz with concerns about the children's family members.
  • When the movie transitions to the present, we see Goku and Vegeta sparring and afterward banter as usual with Vegeta calling Goku an idiot, again. It's nice to see their friendship still going strong even after the Universal Tournament saga.
  • Broly and Bah's friendship. Bah was just a beast who would have seen Broly as little more than food, yet it managed to develop an emotional attachment to this wily prey in a hostile environment. Just like Son Goku, Broly can turn foes into friends over time.
  • Broly defending his father when Cheelai and Lemo try to tell him Paragus is a terrible person. While his loyalty is misguided, it's nice that Broly genuinely cares for his father.
  • With all his awkwardness being in a more suburban setting, Broly eventually warms up to Cheelai and Lemo enough to tell them why the skin around his waist is so important to him.
  • When everyone decides to go to where the Dragon Balls were taken, Beerus opines he doesn't want to go, so Bulma gives him Bra to look after. The last we see of Beerus while they take off is him annoyedly screaming at them that he is not a babysitter. However, after everything has settled, we find Beerus and Bra sitting by the beach with Bra playfully nuzzling on Beerus' chest, both of them looking adorably comfy. It even seems like she has taken quite a liking to the God of Destruction.
    • It gets even better when one realizes Beerus went out of his way to gather a few toys and even a rocker to take along with them to the beach.
  • During the trip to the ice continent to retrieve the Dragon Balls stolen by Frieza's men and after finding out Bulma's reason for collecting them again (Bulma wishes to be a bit younger again), Goku points out how unimportant and vain Bulma's wish is which causes her to jet forward the flying aircraft they were in causing Goku to fall down. And what does Goku do? He just laughs it off showing no anger towards the incident. Even Vegeta is shown to be smiling a bit at this.
  • It's a short glimpse, but what is seen of Frieza's relationship with his implied nanny Berryblue is oddly sweet. It is shown she has been by his side since childhood, and in the present day can affectionately tease him about his height, which he has vaporized lesser minions for, with Frieza in turn warmly confirming and confiding his insecurities to her and her alone. He consistently addresses Berryblue with a genuinely warm affection not seen even with trusted and respected generals / rivals such as Ginyu and Goku; and the fact she was willing to return to Frieza's side a good 17 years after his death instead of jumping ship to a life of freedom speaks volumes of her genuine affection for her "son."
  • As SSG Goku and Broly fight, Goku uses a technique very much like Roshi's paralysis to contain Broly so he can talk to him and try to reason with him for a second. Goku's sincere effort to get Broly to stand down and belief that unlike Freeza, Cell or Kid Buu who were all dangerous villains Goku doesn't think Broly is one of them. It ultimately doesn't work due to Broly's loyalty to Paragus, but Goku’s All-Loving Hero nature once again shines in this moment as he tries to prevent unnecessary conflict and bloodshed. Showing that for all his Blood Knight tendencies Goku doesn't wanna fight or hurt anyone without a reason. However, can we also throw out the fact that for a moment, Broly was listening. Goku successfully managed to get through to Broly to such a degree that he actually stops screaming and flailing for a moment to seriously consider Goku’s offer to stand down.
  • A blink-and-miss-it moment, when Goku and Broly's fight start to shatter the ice around them, the ice ground that Whis, Bulma, and Vegeta were starting to tumble causing Bulma to lose her balance. And what does Vegeta do? He instantly holds onto Bulma to give her support. This shows how much he cares for her compared to how he was in the Z series.
  • The reason Vegeta finally agrees to fuse with Goku? It was also because of Bulma, embarrassed blushing included.
  • Whis dancing with Super Saiyan Broly to distract him from Bulma after Frieza was spent.
    • Whis gets a pleasant surprise at Gogeta, the result of Goku and Vegeta using the Fusion Dance, step in to fight Broly in his place.
Whis: Well, would you look at that! Seems you two can work together.
  • Cheelai using the Dragon Balls to save Broly from Gogeta since she knows he's just being used by Frieza and Paragus. This is especially emphasized in the dub with these words to Shenron:
Cheelai: Save Broly, and send him back to the planet he grew up on! Please dragon!
  • In a twisted sense, Frieza ultimately deciding not to pursue Broly, Cheelai, and Lemo after locating them again. Granted, it's more out of Pragmatic Villainy, as he acknowledges he'll need a partner now that Goku and Vegeta are both a legitimate threat to him, but it's still an act of mercy - and respect - that he would have once been incapable of. ESPECIALLY towards a Saiyan who'd just beaten him into paste for anywhere between around thirty minutes to over three hours.
  • Goku went out of his way to locate Broly, Cheelai and Lemo, and give them capsules with a nice house and supplies (all willingly provided by Bulma) so they can have more comfortable lives. Despite Cheelai’s distrust of him, Goku doesn’t try to force a friendship with Broly, but hopes they can casually spar any time soon, which Broly appreciates.
  • Cheelai and Lemo warming up to Goku once they realize he honestly wants to help them.
  • At the end, when asked about his name from Cheelai, Goku then went on to say his name but then added his other name, Kakarot. This is heartwarming as this shows Goku has finally accepted his Saiyan heritage and name and now doesn't mind using it.
Goku: It's Goku, but Broly... call me Kakarot.
