In-Series Moments of Heartwarming:

  • Ignoring the consequences of his actions, the montage of Brolli using his powers for pure unadulterated Wish-Fulfillment.
  • Early on, there are moments where you might feel like Brolli can possibly change, such as Marisa and Patcholi finding out that one of his abilities is "self-awareness", and some of his actions arguably show this, such as eventually seeming to genuinely care about Reisen. Too bad what follows cannot be avoided.
  • In episode 11. Marisa punches Brolli, when he badmouthed Reimu and claimed that Marisa hated her, stating that even if she is her rival, Reimu is also her best friend. And that even with her selfish tendencies, Marisa would give her life to protect the balance of Gensokyo. Also doubles as a Moment of Awesome.
  • In episode 12. Brolli thanks Nitori for all the help she has given him and hugs her. He even refuses Lepus advice to take advantage of her when she is emotionally vulnerable.
  • Doubling as a Moment of Awesome, when everyone wants to kill Brolli when it turns out that is what will resolve the incident, Reimu of all people is the one to tell everyone to stop, thus proving that even though Reimu can be a bitch and she may hate Gappies, she is still the protector of Gensokyo and its people.
  • Miko's You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech after tearing Brolli's excuses. About this point in the previews, many viewers say, "I like this Miko."
  • Disgusted by the fact the incident resolvers are gunning down the survivors of the Kappa Valley when they try killing Brolli, Marisa refuses to fight the Kappa, shoots Alice when her dolls slice through a bunch of Kappa, and yells, "BROLLI, THIS HAS GONE TOO FAR!"
  • Brolli's death: To save Gensokyo, Brolli not only heroically sacrifices himself to stop Tenshi, but also does it to remove himself from Gensokyo completely and does so knowing he'll go to Hell when he dies.
Brolli: NO!!! If I caused all of this, I'm not going to Hell until I end it: even if it means my death! If killing myself to stop you is all I can do to give people hope, SO BE IT!!!
  • Right before the epilouge, Vic gives his classmates an abridged version of the truth: that Arturo, Brolli and Jack all went chasing after a fantasy. After failing to stop the other Gappy Stus from leaving, Vic calmly tells his classmates to forget about the humming and move on with their lives.
  • The truth behind Tenshi's incident: she did it to Mercy Kill Brolli before the rest of Gensokyo could stab him in the back, simultaneously dragging the rest of his enemies across the Moral Event Horizon with her via a Zero-Approval Gambit. And the best part? There's nothing anyone can do to get revenge on Tenshi without blowing their cover.
Tenshi: I wanted Brolli to die fighting someone he could hate, not get stabbed in the back by someone he loved...
  • For all of the dark elements of the ending, Mokou and Kaguya's survival and gleefully continuing their duels gets cheers from the Ustream audience. And despite all of Brolli's flaws, they take a moment to note that he was "fun to play with."
  • Overlapping with Tear Jerker, Velupe and Hydrus hugging before they are crushed for eternity.
  • The final scene, if bittersweet: Shiki decides to let Brolli live since he learned how selfish and villainous he was, so he won't make the same mistakes for his next life.
Brolli: But it's not fair! Why should all of the bad guys get away scot-free?
Shiki: Brolli, just as long as you are aware that you are a "bad guy," you can start taking the steps to becoming good.
