Heartwarming / Deadpool (2022)

  • Really, we could say "Deadpool and Valentine's entire relationship" and be done with it.
    • On every recap page after the first issue, Valentine's profile picture has a red heart drawn around it.
    • After Deadpool crashes at their apartment following the failed mission, Valentine makes him breakfast, even making a little Deadpool face out of the eggs. Followed up by them admitting they find him cute.
    • Valentine freely admits that they chose the zoo to test how Deadpool's symbiote reacts to outside stimuli as an excuse to go on a zoo date with him.
    • With the Carnage clone's encouragement, the two of them get an Almost Kiss moment before Harrower and Doc Ock show up.
    • Once Harrower and Doc Ock kidnap Deadpool, Valentine's immediate top priority is getting him back, even threatening to kill Lady Deathstrike if she doesn't help them (something Deadpool finds sweet when he hears of it).
Valentine: Come on, Yuriko. We're off to visit someone who can put my arm back together. After that, we're going to go find my Deadpool.
    • The two of them finally getting a Big Damn Kiss after escaping Harrower's lab.
    • Issues 6 and 7 focus on them having an actual date, and it's adorable from start to finish. Not even the multiple attempts on their lives or them getting arrested puts a dent in how cute it is.
    • Due to Aster's abilities, Valentine ends up seeing Wade's pre-disfigurement face in issue 8. Deadpool automatically assumes they like it better and starts getting insecure, only for Valentine to pull the fake face of, pull off his mask under that, and kiss his real face.
Valentine: I want to see you. The real you. Only and always.
    • When they're both captured by the Atelier, Valentine admits to Deadpool that him getting invited to the Atelier was part of a larger gambit they concocted to kill the Horned Emperor. Deadpool's obviously hurt by this, only for Valentine to reveal how they genuinely fell for him
Valentine: And I didn’t expect you to be so--
      Deadpool: So what?!
Valentine: --SO EASY TO FALL IN LOVE WITH, OKAY?!
      Deadpool: Wait, what--?
Valentine: It was a huge miscalculation on my part! Some truly idiot-clown $#%&! (bumping their head into Deadpool's chest) But no! You just had to treat me like someone normal! Not a weapon! Not a killer! Just a regular person who goes on zoo dates and eats eggs and wants to spend time with you!
Deadpool: (holding them) I mean, I was pretty sure you were a killer the first time I saw you. But that's a bonus, not a deal-breaker. Also, plenty of killers love eggs! I know so many professional hit men with lifetime Waffle House bans. Basically, everyone I've dated has tried to murder me. (kissing their forehead) I'm more bad ideas than chimichangas than man. But I really like you, Val.
      Valentine: Pff. Me too.
    • Deadpool's "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight speech to Valentine, which manages to help them fight off the Horned Emperor's possession.
Deadpool: I WOULD LOVE YOU IF I WERE A WORM!
      Valentine/The Horned Emperor: ...what?
Deadpool: I mean, I would love you if you were a worm! It doesn't matter what kind of worm! Sandworm, tapeworm, fishworm--Emperor worm--because you're you! Valentine. My Valentine. It doesn't matter what shape you are--although this one is smoking hot, don't get me wrong. Be the horny majesty, or don't. I just want you.
Valentine: ...I'm pretty sure you're the horny majesty.
      Deadpool: You're back!
Valentine: Mm-hmm. I heard you calling through the cacophony of the Emperor's voices. You were my lifeline. I could have stayed there forever...but I didn't want to miss this.
      (the two of them kiss)
  • Renesmee/Princess bonding with the rest of the cast is pretty sweet, too. Even the perpetually-grumpy Lady Deathstrike (who spends a chunk of the series reasonably pissed at Princess' "papa" to boot) comes to love her, enough so to break her out of the Atelier's holding cells.
  • While she's still not a fan of either of them at this point, Lady Deathstrike still spends issue 6 helping keep assassins from ruining Deadpool and Valentine's date alongside Princess.
  • For a couple of dangerous assassins (one of whom is a Humanoid Abomination to boot), what we see of Alcaudón and Ms. Gingko's relationship seems to indicate that they genuinely love each other.
