  • Thomas and Niall's interactions are frequently this.
    • When some idiots tried to bully Thomas on the steamer, Niall's first reaction was get pissed and stopping the incident. Then kicking the bullies' asses.
  • Cedric's treatment of his "baby brother" also qualifies, all the more surpising since he is rumoured to love nobody, and aristocrats rarely consider same-sex siblings more than an annoyance. The Beast still looks out for his brother, tries to keep him safe, spoils him (to a given extent, his approaching to parenting is rather like a Sink or Swim Mentor-type), and spends a lot of time to pick him a worthy bride (and actually proves himself quite a matchmaker, since this ends up being a Perfectly Arranged Marriage).
    • All the more heartwarming for the fact that Niall might be a bastard, and thus shunned by the other clan members. Cedric loves him just the same.
    • The fact that Cedric kept the first sword he had made for Niall. He uses it as a dagger/letter-opener.
    • The photograph that revealed Niall's real identity for our narrator catched a Heartwarming Moment between the brothers.
  • Cedric pulling the family together for a photograph. It included his little brother, his new sister-in-law, Gervas, and Thomas and his family.
  • Also, pick any moments between Niall and Gervas.
    • The fact that Gervas can pull a Cooldown Hug on a berserkering Porcelain Doctor.
    • What about the time Gervas was drugged out of his mind, and catched the doctor? Instead of doing anything tasteless to him, he pulled him down for cuddling a bit, and spent a few minutes petting him and trying to make him purr. Also works as a Funny Moment.
      • Made sweeter with that Niall didn't even try to escape. He simply struggled lightly for a few minutes, then gave up, snuggled next to his friend and fell asleep. Granted, he himself was sick and tired, but he killed men for less than this before.
      • Even cuter fuzz follows, when the (perfectly sobered up) Gervas wakes up and realizes what he has done; he is genuinely panicking, but not even tries to remove his arms around his friend so the doctor wouldn't wake up. And after Niall awakens anyway, he is surprisingly calm, and even heeds to Gervas' request to stay close to him for a while. For the warmth. Specifically, for Niall acting as a glorified water heater for Gervas, as he is currently having problems with his Power Incontinence (with his Playing with Fire abilities).
  • The Merry Company's approach to the protagonists. After a good first impression (a fight with shamblers and Niall helping the injured members) they decided to help the "hapless" foreigners, and integrated them into their group. After the Porcelain Doctor saved Dick's life, they made a promise to help them reach their aim.
  • Louis' treatment of the Porcelain Doctor. We don't know why he does this, but he is the only one from the group who always looks out for him, and even stands up to Gervas when he (correctly) believes that he lets the doctor overwork himself. Whatever his reason is, he demonstrates a fine Papa Wolf attitude for someone he knows for a really short time.
  • Cedric doing a little bit of homework, then contacting Gervas' First Love. Ostensibly, he just wanted to get a suitable duenna for his sister-in-law, and the widow Alexandra was really perfect for the role, being both similar in personality to the Amber Duchess and the necessarily ten years older. But he didn't need to get a Prussian aristocrat lady for safeguarding a scottish lady. Cedric seems to be quite the matchmaker, as this ends with Gervas and Alexandra getting married.
