  • Throughout chapters 10-12, Atsushi goes way out of his way to be nice to Kyouka, from saving her from the Mafia to taking her places to let her have fun, even though he knows that, since she's a criminal (Though not by choice), he has to turn her in. When she puts her life on the line to protect him and everyone else, Atsushi is told to leave her behind, but he refuses and goes to save her. Why? Because, like Kyouka, Atsushi was an orphan who lived a terrible life, constantly being told he was worthless, but in his case, the ADA helped him and didn't abandon him, and he'll be damned to hell if he's going to abandon her in her hour of need. So he goes Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right! and goes in to save her. Awwwwww.
  • After learning the full story of her parents' deaths — namely that Demon Snow had been her mother's Ability, transferred to Kyouka and ordered to protect her when her parents fell under the sway of an Ability that turned them into People Puppets — there's a shot of Kyouka leaning up against the entity's side, finally accepting it as a manifestation of her parents' love. The fact that Kouyou went to the trouble of getting the relevant information into Kyouka's hands makes it doubly sweet.
  • In Storm Bringer, Dazai and Chuuya know Corruption is the only way to defeat Guivre, but instead of just letting him go off, Dazai pulls Chuuya aside and explains that if he uses it, he will be throwing away the answers to the question that's troubled him his entire life. Dazai then allows Chuuya time to think it over and has the courtesy to give him space, though the important part is that this isn’t an attempt at manipulating him, Dazai is genuinely giving Chuuya a choice, and starts coming up with a backup plan in case his partner refuses. Chuuya even remarks that Dazai is acting weird, and he's described as having a very serious look Chuuya hadn’t seen before. Despite their hatred for each other, it's oddly touching to see Dazai not take the opportunity to screw Chuuya over and instead be a decent person.
    • There's also the fact that Chuuya ultimately decides what he is or where he came from doesn't matter, and willingly destroys the logs containing the answers, caring more for the people he’s built relationships with than whatever happened in the past.
