- After Ray suffers an attack (either stress or heart), Dave says he's not going to the bicycle race with the Italians, even though he's been waiting for this for a long time. Evelyn then shows him her passport, which she uses for ID purposes. It's implied she got it because she was going to travel, but never got a chance to, and this is her way of telling Dave to go after his dreams while he still can. It works.
- Ray's pride and excitement as he roots for Dave in the Little 500.
- After Dave loses the race to the Italians because they cheated, he cries on Ray's shoulder. Even Ray is taken aback. Doubles as a Tear Jerker.
- When Mike races Rod in the quarry, and hits his head on one of the rocks, Cyril, Dave and Moocher all dive in to help him, even though they had all been arguing with each other minutes before while Mike also looks guilty.
- Moocher and Nancy's Smooch of Victory after the race. Their whole tension-free Beta Couple relationship may count.
- Ray being impressed enough by the final race to take up cycling himself.
- Katherine forgiving Dave for his earlier deception and refuting his forlorn Heroic Self-Deprecation. She also says that despite how he was lying, she's taken his advice about reconciling with her parents and visiting Italy to heart.
