Heartwarming / Black Leopard, Red Wolf

Go To

Surprisingly, for a book as unrelentingly dark as this, there are scenes that will warm the heart in this book.

  • Tracker and Mossi forming a genuine relationship. Mossi proves that, while he's willing to call Tracker out when he's in the wrong, he's the one who shows Tracker unconditional love for the first time, and proves to be a positive influence on our cynical snarky narrator.
  • Most of Tracker's interactions with the mingi children, which makes it all the more heartwrenching when they all die.
  • Tracker's genuine attempts to comfort Sadogo, and telling him that he's a good man despite all he's done.
  • While Sadogo's death is heartbreaking, the fact that Tracker and Mossi deeply mourn for him shows that, for all his guilt and shame, in the end, there were people who he left a positive mark on.
  • Tracker reuniting and reconciling with his long lost mother, with Mossi there to support him.
  • Leopard and Tracker reuniting again, after all Tracker went through, he's happy to see a friendly face again.
  • Even though Tracker is furious at Leopard, and claims he'll kill him on sight, he isn't able to. It showcases that despite Tracker's animosity, he still cared about Leopard.
  • Tracker finally acknowledging that Leopard was his first love as Leopard dies in his arms.
