Heartwarming / Adventures of God

Go To

  • Many of Jesus' speeches to mortals fall under this.
  • Despite their differences, the characters are on fairly good terms with one another, with God and Satan having no inherent bitterness and characters from both Heaven and Hell frequently calling on the other side.
  • God took it upon himself to play matchmaker for Lucy, sending many eligible bachelors to Hell as potential dates. While Satan is initially hesitant to admit it, God turned out to be a decent matchmaker— Lucy ends up marrying one of the later additions, a hairdresser named Riley.
  • All animals go to Heaven, and all see God as one of their own kind. With one exception, of course.
  • The saga of Bob and Bub in Purgatory is especially heartwarming. First, Bub (a half-angel half-demon tasked with judging souls) grows weary of his boring job in a blank, nondescript Purgatory, eventually going on vacation to a remote island. He eventually is persuaded to return to work on the condition that he gets to stay on the island, making it the new Purgatory. Eventually, he meets a man called Bob, who’s perfectly balanced between good and evil, having committed exactly as many sins as good deeds. Since he has never encountered such a case, Bub decides to let him stay with him in Purgatory. They spend one perfect, glorious day together until Bob performs one minor good deed, which counts towards him and sends him to Heaven. Bob immediately decides that he’d rather be in Purgatory with his new friend than in Heaven and goes about doing bad deeds to get sent back…only to find himself in Hell. Satan, for his part, immediately decides to help Bob and goes around helping him perform good deeds (culminating in Bob officiating Lucifer and Riley’s wedding), upon which Bob is allowed to stay in Purgatory forever. As for Bub, he’s overjoyed and continues to do his job with renewed vigor for the rest of the comic.
  • Episode 474, "Confess", is basically an episode-long one of these. A priest hears two separate men come into confession to admit they have feelings for men (namely: each one has feelings for the other). He assures them that they're fine, and then "accidentally" schedules them to come into confession at the same time the next week. They end up leaving together and schedule a date. God himself then shows up to congratulate the man on his matchmaking skills.
Priest: That’s right, God. I did that. And I would do it again. I know you accept their love if you’re truly a benevolent God. And if you are not…why believe in you at all?
