- Just who is paying upkeep for the house in this game? There is running water available so that means money owed to the water company and possibly other utilities. Plus, this house has to fall under some local jurisdiction like a town, city or county; property taxes must be owed. You'd think that possibly some nosy neighbors or an Obstructive Bureaucrat would come knocking at the door to see what is going on here.
- Given how isolated the house is, it probably runs off a well. Which still requires power, but given the status of the house, I suspect the original master of the house was 'old money' with a lot of rent being collected off other properties and trust funds. Utilities and taxes are probably paid for out of that. The master probably preferred his isolation, and set it up so nobody unexpected would have to visit.
- The running water comes from EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL magic. Which is why turning on the water in the bathroom near the end of the game will drown you.
