• Robyn reads a file revealing that Gordo had attempted to abduct a minor while in the U.S. military, resulting in him getting discharged for "conduct unbecoming". The attempted abduction of a minor is a lot more serious than "conduct unbecoming". Realistically, Gordo should have still been serving hard time in Leavenworth.
  • Given the lightness of the comeuppance, it's possible Gordo was actually trying to rescue a kid he thought he noticed going through a similar hell he had at home. The dumbass way, however: if so, that could have been mitigating circumstance enough not to wind up incarcerated, but stupid enough to get the boot.
  • It could also be that Simon never stopped bullying Gordo, and had a hand in Gordo’s discharge from the military. Gordo’s sudden ‘mysterious’ appearance at the beginning of the movie may have actually been a defensive move, trying to figure out how to shut Simon down before he causes anymore damage.
    • It wouldn't make sense for Simon to not recognize Gordo and then need to do a background check on him if Simon had been keeping up on him to torment him. It would also run counter to his established MO of opportunistically abusing people and then moving on, forgetting all about them.
  • Since Simon has fabricated false information about Danny that got him fired and allowed him no competition to get a high paying position, its implied that Simon intends to do the same to Gordo that would get him arrested. What would make Simon more of a Jerkass is that he did this after Gordo teases him after the dinner party.
• If Gordo wanted to torment Simon with the possibly that he may or may not have impregnated Robyn after she fainted, why didn't he account for the possibility of a paternity test?
  • What if it wasn’t Gordo in the video, but actually Simon? The reactions Simon gives to the drugging video, could be in response to Gordo finding the video of Simon drugging his OWN wife, and molesting her for his amusement.
    • Gordo's conversation with Simon about the tape would make no sense if it were Simon in the video.
  • Simon has been exposed as a liar who ruined at least two people's lives with malicious rumors. If Simon were to accuse Gordo of raping Robyn, everyone would assume he was crying wolf and dismiss him.
  • He didn't care. Paternity test or not, Gordo's only plan was to break Simon like Simon had broken him. He ruined his marriage, his career, his entire life. And he succeeded at that.
    • Even if the paternity test revealed Gordo was the father, Gordo succeeded in destroying Simon's life...he lost his job, his marriage was destroyed and the birth of what he thought to be his child was poisoned by this revelation. Whether he raped Robyn or not, or indeed, whether the child is his or not, the damage was done. That happy moment was poisoned, and Simon will still be left, never knowing conclusively, even IF the child is in fact his, whether or not Gordo did it. And that was all Gordo cared about.
  • Aside from that, pretty much all of Gordo's plan relies on Simon's narcissism. For a paternity test to happen Simon would first have to admit that he'd been incapable of protecting what was "his," and Gordo knew he could never bring himself to do that.
  • Except Simon saw the video and couldn’t deny that he wasn’t there to protect Robyn.
