• Why didn't Bashir think about asking one of Deep Space Nine's many Vulcan crewmembers (judging by "Field of Fire") to mind-meld with the unconscious Sloan?
  • Considering the complexity of Sloan's mind and the doubtless complicated nature of the cure, Bashir may have felt it best to cut out the middle-man and search for the information himself rather than rely on a Vulcan who may not have the necessary scientific expertise.
  • The point is also made early on that Bashir did the numbers about how many people at Starfleet Medical would need to be involved to infect Odo, coming to no less than 73. Section 31 sparked his Paranoia Fuel, and he wasn’t sure if he could trust a random officer.
