There was no explanation given as to why Worf, a Starfleet officer, was assigned to the IKS Rotarran, a Klingon Bird of Prey after Deep Space Nine was evacuated. I would have thought that Captain Sisko would want to keep his USS Defiant XO, especially during combat missions.
