- It doesn't make a lot of sense for Otho's helmet to have spikes on it. If he's a violent man condemned to death, why would they put potential weapons on his restraining devices?
- The spikes may be ceremonial in some way, and with his android around and very limited use of his sight, he isn't too much of a threat to multiple people.
- They're certainly supposed to look scary, but the fact that Otho eventually rips off the android's head and carries it around in a backpack shows that he's not exactly helpless.
- I assumed the android got heavily damaged by Mother during the failed attempt to destroy her. He may have just picked up the head.
- It may be symbolic, Mithras's main depiction in the mysteries is him killing a bull. The Mithraists may put that horned helmet on those condemned to death to symbolize the bull which is to be slaughtered.
- One would think that the spikes would resemble a bull's horns, then. Instead, they jut out radially along the top of the helmet. If anything, I think they'd resemble stylized sunrays when viewed from the top, with the circle of the helmet being the sun.
