- In some versions of the story, the queen can only eat one rose/onion; one of them will give her a boy, the other will give her a girl. She inevitably eats both, and one of the kids turns into the lindworm...but if that's the case, why do both kids turn out male?
- It's not that the red rose puts a boy in your womb and the white one puts a girl in there. It's a ritual that's meant to end with you picking one rose and eating it; eating both of them breaks the ritual, so whatever sex-selecting effect the ritual had was undone (and one of the children was turned into a dragon as punishment for breaking those rules).
