• Does Rin Soga try to kill Broom Girl? When ordered to arrest Broom Girl, Rin flatly states that it's a "ridiculous overreaction" on the Magistrate's part; yet when BG attempts to escape, she shoots a lethal magic bolt at her. Talk about overreacting.
  • Although the shot killed Wolfe, it's unlikely it would have been lethal for Broom Girl. The intention was never to kill Broom Girl, but to interrogate her about Lucy's potential whereabouts and what she did to Siobhan. When Derry mentions in chapter four that guards and representatives use shooter gloves with real gems in them, she only alludes to them leaving wounds. We don't know for sure how hardy familiars are compared to humans - at the very least, Ana points out that Merrylegs has been killed on accident before. Given Rin's attitude towards the entire assignment and her demeanor in general, it's unlikely she'd shoot to kill a teenager.
