  • In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh cites what Inanna did to Tammuz in Inanna's Descent to the Netherworld as a reason for spurning her (among other horrible things she did to other former lovers); yet the latter story takes place after The Epic of Gilgamesh... unless Inanna treated him horribly even before to sentencing him to spend half the year in The Underworld. Maureen Gallery Kovacs Translation:
"Tammuz, the lover of your earliest youth, for him you have ordained lamentations year upon year!"
  • In Inanna's Descent into the Underworld, Ereshkigal hosts a funeral for her husband Gugalanna in her realm, which is the underworld. Shouldn't Gugalanna be Attending His Own Funeral?
