Headscratchers / Jetsons: The Movie

  • What's the point of Intergalactic Garden Estates? The logical reason to build a community next to a mining plant is to provide housing for the workers, but the mine is fully automated and has no workers apart from George and Rudy-2. What do the residents of Intergalactic Garden Estates even do for a living? Do they all work at the shopping mall?
    • They probably work on Earth or have jobs such as a bus driver or flight attendant. A lot of those apartments are probably weekend homes as well.
    • It's possible that the mall is a tourist destination in its own right, so people fly from Earth and other planets to visit it. The people who work in the mall live in the houses. Either that or Mr Spacely is into real estate.
    • That begs the question of how a top secret factory is connected via a hallway to a popular mall with an attached community less than a day's drive from Earth with no one knowing about it.
  • Apparently the apartment complex is lowered at nighttime and ends up in the blanket of smog surrounding the ground-level of Earth, and Rosie can raise it up; but then you realize, Rosie has the authority to raise up the entire apartment complex? The Jetsons don't own the whole building!
    • They are, however, close friends of the building's superintendent, Henry Orbit. Maybe he gave permission to Rosie (his robot assistant's girlfriend) to raise and lower the building?
    • In any case, this previously happened in a 1960s episode, where the building rose above a storm.
