Student of war, never heard of 'peace'
At the end of chapter 26, it is revealed that Master Chief is unfamiliar with the concept of 'peace'. Not even just the specific word, which is silly enough, but he seems to be new to the entire concept. Did the concept of 'wars ending' just somehow never come up in his extensive study of historic wars? It's Halsey that first introduces him to the phrase, so it's not like it can be excused as a deliberate omission for bizarre propaganda/psychological molding reasons. And even if that was the case, did none of the soldiers or civilians encountered during the last 20 years of warfare ever talk about wanting peace?
