Headscratchers / Gerald's Game

Go To

  • In the film adaptation at least, it seems as if Jessie could have got out of the situation a bit easier by taking the empty glass or the shelf (it didn't look like the shelf was attached to the wall or the brackets), gripping them between her toes or feet, and using them to nudge her phone closer. It would've been awkward, but the phone looked like it was just out of her reach so she'd only need to move it a bit. Sure, she wasn't thinking straight, but her hallucinations seemed to be giving her pretty good advice, so you'd think that either of them would've suggested something like that.
    • The hallucination of Gerald said the phone could be dead and that the real Gerald probably didn‘t charge it. And if that were the case Jessie would have lost a place to put what little water she had, if not lose the water altogether.
    • You can chalk it up to dehydration and not being able to think clearly (certainly Ruleof Drama is the "real" Doyalist explanation) but wouldn't you try the water as a lubricant before your own blood? Or use the glass as a saw to shave wood off the bedposts before cutting yourself? Not once in the film do we see her try to move the bed closer to the phone or key. And if your life really depended on it, wouldn't you twist and contort yourself to stretch your feet over to the phone/key first?
