Headscratchers / Four Weddings and a Funeral

  • The third wedding allegedly takes place in Scotland, and there's no shortage of kilts and bagpipes and tartans. There is, however, a really impressive shortage of people speaking in Scottish accents. As in, there's literally ONE.
    • This is actually Truth in Television: plenty of upper-class Scottish people don’t have Scottish accents, because they consider them lower-class.
  • Why on Earth would Charles pick Henrietta to marry? Of all his exes, she appears to be his least favorite, and the dialogue between him and his friends on his wedding day indicates that not only does he not love her, he doesn't even like her very much.
    • She must have guilted him into it.
    • Out of his exes, she seems to be the only one willing to take him back. Considering his loneliness and grief over his friend's sudden death, this might have been a factor. One could potentially claim temporary insanity.
  • Come to think about it, why would Henrietta want to marry Charles? He hasn't exactly been mr. Sweet to her throughout the movie. She does seem to act triumphant, like she considers him (or marriage itself) a prize to win, but still.
