• What happens when Lucy has her period or when she gets sick or something? how do they explain that to her?
  • She could just assume she woke up sick or her period started early.
• Why did Lucy's father buy hundreds of copies of the newspaper? Why not just use the same copy every day? Also, what if Lucy happened to find the pile of newspapers?
  • Does Lucy scrunch up the newspaper and throw it away? What if she spills something on the only copy or rips it by accident?
• Following up on that, when exactly did he buy the newspapers? It's explained that Lucy was in the hospital for months, so he wouldn't have known the logistics of her amnesia until long after that newspaper came out.
  • He probably went to the newspaper company at some point and asked them to do a reprint. Newspaper companies usually keep an archive of old papers and even a few months after the accident it wouldn't be impossible for him to commission a bunch of reprints.
• Why is someone with Lucy's condition allowed to drive a car?
  • As we see in the movie she still has her mental faculties even is she can't create new long term memories. There is no reason for her to not be allowed to drive as she still has her cognitive functions and can drive safely. She has those skills and memories from before accident and as is pointed out, those are intact.
    • While she may remember how to drive a car, the question stated above is why she's allowed to drive one. You'd think that the doctors (and her family) would be concerned over whether she could get lost at one point (like if there's a detour in the road), or over her ending up in another car accident- and making her condition worse.
• While Marlin and Doug go through great lengths (at the beginning) to ensure that Lucy wakes up believing it's the same day over and over again, how in the world did they not consider taking care of her car registration problem?
  • Henry pointed out that it was obvious that they'd slip up. They were already doing so much to make her think it was the same day so some things were bound to slip through the cracks.
