• Easy was seen by a roomful of bar patrons dragging Joppy out of his own bar at gunpoint, and Joppy is killed that very night. While Terrel promises to clear Easy of any criminal charges, wouldn't the community still assume that Easy killed Joppy? In the end, however, Easy is shown to be still an accepted member of the community and plans to become a private investigator to put his community connections to use.
  • It's possible Joppy took the fall for the many murders throughout the story (both the ones he committed and not) and with Joppy's reputation down the gutter that led patrons to assume Easy had a good reason to kill him.
