• How on earth did the American government decide that love was a disease?
  • It's shown that the present society was created by a democratic election. How they convinced the populace that love was a disease is less clear, but maybe the election was rigged.
• Where did the government obtain any proof that love was a disease?
• Does the government truly believe love is a disease or are they using that as an excuse to control the populace and cut back on crime?
• There’s a stigma on romantic love, but what about the love one feels towards friends or family? Are those kinds of love considered dangerous too?
  • Seems to be yes. Lena's mother treated her very different than many other parents do; "normal" parents just seem to have a sense of duty.
• Is the cure reversible or is anyone that receives it more of a high-functioning lobotomy patient?
  • The cure must be reversible, as Hanna is back to her normal self after Requiem.
