Headscratchers / Count Duckula

Go To

  • How could Count Duckula have been reincarnated after his last appearance in Danger Mouse? The reincarnation ceremony can only be performed once a century, so how could they have done it? Surely he'd already been reincarnated in the 20th century, hence his appearance in Danger Mouse?
    • It can be only performed once a century "when the moon is in the eighth house of Aquarias" (or something like that); there's nothing to say that the Danger Mouse Duckula wasn't killed at some point after his appearance and then that lunar alignment occurred shortly afterwards so that Igor and Nanny could bring him back.
    • His last reincarnation (resulting in his "Danger Mouse" form) could have happened as late as 1899. Hence, the next reincarnation could have happened after DM meets him in 198X.

  • Just how exactly is Igor still alive? They've made it crystal clear that he's well over 700, and flashbacks in 'Dear Diary' shows us that not only was he not exaggerating/lying when making claims of being over 700, but that he's looked essentially the same for a good couple of centuries. Is he immortal? Does he just eat well and exercise? Someone pls explain.
    • This troper's theory is that the castle can stop time. No-one ages as long as they are inside. This ties in with how the magic clock can tamper with time as seen in 'The Rest is History.' Of course, Igor may also have used some unholy ritual to prolong his lifespan indefinitely, but that doesn't explain Nanny who is also apparently rather old (though not AS old).
    • Given that Igor seems to be the one who always revives Duckula, he clearly knows a lot about magic. He may have used some other spells to extend his and Nanny's own lifespans. He wouldn't have a problem with doing any malevolent things necessary for the spell (e.g. draining the life out of some unlucky peasants.)

  • Von Goosewing is shown flying around in hot air balloons (which sometimes burst but get replaced), blimps and even a submarine in "the Mutinous Penguins". He also builds gadgets and anti-vampire weapons. That leads to the inevitable question - where is he getting all his money and supplies? Does Von Goosewing have a good paying job? Are there patrons or businesses financially backing him?
    • Von Goosewing is a Bungling Inventor who creates all sorts of strange things, even ones that don't have anything to do with vampires like the carpet cleaner and spot remover that turned out to be a Jekyll & Hyde formula. Maybe some competent businesses have found actual uses for some of his inventions and pay him royalties for them. That money then finances Von Goosewing's true passion of vampire-hunting.
