• Did the Arabs attack Venandekatra's ship in the timeline with Link but not Aide? We know that Venandekatra returned to India, but based on the fight we see in Aide's timeline, it doesn't appear that any of the Malwa would have survived if the Romans and Axumites had not been there. We don't see anything that would cause that to be different in Link's timeline. One can always assume that some minor difference in time or route caused the Arabs to not notice (or decide not to attack) the ship, but that seems unsatisfying.
  • The latter is the most obvious possibility. Delaying departure a small amount of time due to the extra travel time necessary with a larger group, and the difference in boarding due to more people, might mean catching or missing a good wind compared to the other timeline, which alters routes and travel times.
