  • After the daughter tranquilizes the lion in the butt it's shown walking away afterwards why didn't Nate try to beat it to death with the tranq rifle, or find a large durable rock to throw at it or blugeon it to death with said rock.
    • Instant Sedation is not in play here. The lion is messed up enough to retreat, but he's still walking. He's not necessarily going to keep retreating if he knows he's being followed, and the survivors are in no shape to be stealthy. He takes off and hides while he's vulnerable and comes back when he's ready to defend himself. Super-Persistent Predator IS in play. Even in real life, a lot of animals become more violent due to the pain of being shot with a tranq dart. This, along with Instant Sedation not being a thing, is why protocol is to tranq the animal from a distance then stay at a distance until it's unconscious.
    • Plus, it's important to remember that Nate isn't experienced in this kind of situation; as a doctor, his priority is going to obviously be to tend to the sick, rather than to attack an enemy.
    • Additionally, tranquilizer strength has to be carefully calibrated to the size of the animal tagged. A male African Lion can be between 150 and 250 kilograms, not a small animal by any metric. If the darts were calibrated for something smaller, at worst they would only make the lion dizzy without knocking it out.
      • The movie was realistic in that no animal- especially not something like a lion- would be instantly be neutralized by a tranquilizer dart. IRL it takes several minutes for the animal to start feeling the effects, let alone be rendered harmless. Doing what you say would be suicide; the lion would be in defensive mode more than ever. Also, when was the last time you heard about a man (no matter how strong) beating a lion to death with a rifle? These animals are much tougher than you imagine.

  • Mere and Norah spend their whole first scene complaining about how unbearably hot it is and fanning themselves, but they do so while each wearing sweaters. Why didn't they take their sweaters off if they're so hot? In fact, Nate also arrives wearing a jacket, which he immediately takes off. You'd think they would have felt the heat of South Africa at some point before the scene started.
    • Some of the way they're dressed could have been to protect themselves from bugs. Some of those bugs in Africa (rather that part of Africa) can give pretty nasty ailments.

  • When Dr. Nate Samuels, carries his daughter into the old school house and her wound, he pours alcohol directly onto it. Such movement of a patient and a concentration of alcohol onto human flesh would cause extensive tissue damage. No doctor would ever so treat a patient/wound.
    • He was working with what he had. Tensions were high, they were on a time crunch, and it's better tissue damage than a nasty infection.

  • At the beginning the rogue lions pride consisted of him and three females which is 4. but lion prides are larger anywhere from 30 to 40 lions—including up to to three or four males, a dozen or so females, and their young.
    • There's two explanations: 1) This was a new pride starting up or 2), most likely, the poachers have already killed off most of the pride and came back for the last five (the lion and the 4 lionesses).
    • Lion prides come in all sizes- a 30 to 40 pride is a VERY large pride, most are much smaller, especially nowadays. There's no rules as to how many lions a pride can have- it can be as little as three, or as many as you mention.

  • why did it take the lion brothers so long to jump in as the rogue was in their territory. From what was shown, the lions behaviour is to attack on sight if any other lion that's not part of the pride?
    • They did follow them, if that helped.
    • If you pay attention, you can see the two brothers in the background during the fight, descending from the rocks, then they walk around the rogue and Nate in opposite directions- obviously planning an attack. They did hesitate just a moment at first, but probably because they saw something unusual going on (a rogue lion mauling a person), but just a moment.
