• Why didn't the gallery, or David, call England to verify Bean's credentials after it became obvious how weird he was?
  • He's not weird. He's eccentric.
  • They must have assumed that there's no need to, given that Bean is an art gallery curator back in England and they figured that he's already a genius because of that. But then the real question to ask is how did Bean even become an art gallery curator?
  • As noted in the question below, he didn't.
  • Maybe they did call the museum in England, who told the Americans that Bean was a genius in order to keep him in America?

• Just how did Bean become an art gallery curator? He obviously doesn't qualify and knows nothing about art. He's even clueless about who Leonardo da Vinci is.
  • Bean is NOT a curator. He's just a guard.

• David freaking out about his boss finding out about the painting being damaged after he left Bean alone with the painting is flawed logically, as it was actually his boss himself, not David who told Bean to stay with the painting.
  • While that's technically true — albeit he could conceivably have forgotten about it in the heat of the moment — David did know by that point that Bean wasn't who he claimed to be. At the very least David should have known that Bean shouldn't have been left unsupervised around a highly valuable painting, and at worst, he should have reported the deception to his boss and had Bean sent back to the UK.
